Rider late removing blindfold and slowly into stride, pushed along to close on outer 3f out, soon ridden and no impression, weakened final furlong (jockey was slow to remove the blindfold resulting in his horse being slow to start. Watson explained the blind had slipped out of his hand when he tried to remove it, but it came off on the second attempt) (op 4/1)
Left stalls with blindfold on, virtually refused to race and unseated rider soon after start (jockey was unseated shortly after the Start. The rider and the Starter were interviewed and shown recordings of the incident. Jones explained that as he had tried to remove the blindfold, the gelding had put his head down causing it to slip out of his hand. He further added that WITH APPROVAL had left the stalls with the blind still in place, and that in removing it a couple of strides after the start he had become unbalanced causing him to become unseated. Being satisfied that no other horse or rider was involved, no further action was taken. WITH APPROVAL (IRE) was deemed to have started.)
