Took keen hold on outer, soon close up, on terms before 4th, soon led, slightly slow jump 6th, joined and mistake next, soon headed and not fluent 5 out, no extra approaching straight and eased when beaten ( jockey said, regarding running and riding, that his instructions were to pop out handy and do the best he could from there; it jumped the first few fences very ordinary in third or fourth but then carted him to the front; it hung badly right on bend past the stands and then made a bad mistake at first fence down the backstraight; it continued to hang right and jump poorly so, on leaving the backstraight, he eased it down because he was having difficulty trying to steer it; he wanted to do what was best for the horse and to ensure it did not fall because it was its first start over fences, but it was not tired enough to be pulled up; it passed tired horses in home straight, but that in hindsight, if he was to ride the race again, he would have pulled him up at the end of the backstraight; trainer confirmed instructions and said that it had schooled well, but he was disappointed with its jumping today; it had not hung in its hurdle races and that today's ground was as good as it had encountered to date; vet said gelding was found to have sores on its lips.)
Led and disputed, headed from 4th, remained prominent, no extra from 5 out, slight mistake and eased from next, pulled up before 3 out (jockey said he pulled up as he thought gelding was lame but it came back sound)
