Took keen hold, held up in behind leaders, chased leader 5th, led before 3 out, shaken up approaching last, ridden and edged left run-in, kept on well (op 5/1)
Held up in rear, shaken up approaching last, never near to challenge (jockey said, regarding running and riding, his instructions were to get gelding settled at the rear of the field, ride a nice race and get him to finish; jockey added that gelding had previously run well at Sedgefield when ridden prominently but, as he is inclined to race freely and having had almost twelve months off, he had been instructed to ride with more restraint on this stiffer track; he further added that the gelding was again quite free in the early stages having been 'set alight' by Officer Drivel, which was also racing freely alongside him and, having jumped the penultimate flight gelding came off the bridle and finished one-paced; trainer confirmed these instructions adding that the gelding has had breathing problems, hence the wind operation, so had told jockey to hold onto the horse for as long as possible and added that he was satisfied with the ride) (op 33/1)
Led, hung right before 5th, ridden and headed before 3 out, weakened before 2 out (jockey said gelding ran in snatches; post-race examination failed to reveal any abnormalities) (op 4/1)
