Prominent, lost position over 5f out, reminder over 4f out, pushed along over 2f out, ran on inside final furlong, went third post (jockey said filly ran in snatches) (op 25/1)
Slowly into stride, in rear, headway and going easily over 1f out, soon short of room, not reach leaders (an enquiry was held into the running and riding of the filly, which was slowly away and raced midfield on the rails, before appearing to be conservatively handled from entering the home straight until being asked for an effort inside the final furlong, and staying on to finish sixth of eight runners, beaten by 6¼ lengths. The rider and trainer's representative were interviewed and shown recordings of the race and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the filly, during routine testing, failed to reveal any abnormalities. The rider stated that the trainer indicated to him that the filly should get a mile in trip once she had strengthened up but his instructions, on this occasion, were to get a good position and finish as close as he could. He added that he was pleased with the way she travelled in the race but, on entering the home straight, he thought that Racy Stacey was going to drift left in front of him so did not fully commit to a drive. Having lost momentum it then took him time to re-organise his filly before he could ask her for maximum effort and, when he did so, she found little under pressure which, he felt was due to being both weak and green. The representative of Tony Carroll confirmed the instructions and stated that she was satisfied that the ride accorded with those instructions) (tchd 50/1)
