Midfield, headway 2f out, ridden and hung left from over 1f out, went second final 110yds, no match for winner (jockey said gelding hung left-handed under pressure)
In rear, soon outpaced, kept on final 110yds, never on terms (jockey said, regarding running and riding, his instructions were to take his time, see how the race developed and to obtain the best possible placing. Adding the gelding was outpaced and didn't travel with any fluency in the first 2f which meant he had got further out of his ground than had been desirable. He added that for some distance through the middle stages, the gelding had been under pressure to improve his position but was unable to do so, until staying on past tiring horses from the final furlong. Further explaining that the gelding had been briefly hampered app 1/2f out. The trainer confirmed the instructions and expressed satisfaction with the manner in which the gelding had been handled on this occasion, before adding that they would consider running the gelding over a stiffer 6f next start, with a view to being more positive early should he get a favourable draw and jump cleanly)
