Ducked left start, chased leaders, 4 lengths down and pushed along over 2f out, headway and led over 1f out, ridden inside final furlong, comfortably (op 1/3)
Slowly into stride, in rear, slightly hampered soon after start, soon outpaced and pushed along, stayed on and some headway final furlong, never on terms (An enquiry was held into the running and riding of the colt. The jockey stated his instructions were to get the colt to break smartly and then ride the race as he found it. In explaining his ride, the jockey stated the gelding jumped well but suffered interference from a rival shortly after the start causing him to become unbalanced, lose ground and drop to the rear of the field after which he opted to race wide to get out of the kickback. He added that the colt was under a full drive from the start to the end of the race and stayed on one-paced, gaining on horses which were dropping back having raced off a fast early pace. He further added that, in his opinion, the gelding was improving and would be recommending to the trainer for the colt to be stepped up in trip in future) (op 50/1)
