Novicey jumping, towards rear, headway before 4 out, went third before 2 out, no chance with winner but kept on from last, went second towards finish (op 15/2)
In touch with leaders, bumped 1st, lost ground and towards rear before 2nd, headway before 4 out, went second before 2 out, not fluent last, weakened and raced awkwardly run-in, lost second towards finish (tchd 4/1)
Held up in rear, mistake 3rd, mistake 3 out, soon tenderly handled and tailed off (jockey was questioned regarding her riding; she said her instructions were to find the rail, try to get gelding to complete the course and obtain the best possible placing in the process, she said the pace was solid and as a consequence her mount had struggled to lay up throughout before adding that gelding had jumped the third last untidily before being quickly outpaced when not responding to her urgings shortly thereafter; she added that she considered it was in gelding's best interests to keep a good hold of his head with the odd slap down the neck and fill gelding up until well into straight to ensure that he finished the race off, whereupon when asked for a finishing effort between the last two hurdles, he stayed on at one-pace and passed two very tired horses before finishing 35 lengths behind third placed runner; vet said that a post-race exam failed to reveal any abnormalities; jockey's explanation was noted) (tchd 125/1)
Took keen hold, hung badly left and jumped badly left throughout, led, clear before 2nd, went further clear with one circuit to go, much reduced lead before 4 out, headed after 3 out, weakened and pulled up before 2 out (jockey said gelding hung badly left-handed and jumped left-handed) (tchd 125/1)
