Chased leaders, going well behind leaders after 4 out, led after 2 out, ridden and pressed closely before last, kept on well under pressure run-in (trainer said regarding the apparent improvement of form, that that this gelding had been very difficult to train due to number of injuries and furthermore being of a highly strung temperament. He added that he had shown a lot of ability as a young horse when placed in an I.N.H. Flat race on good ground but subsequently encountered leg problems on two separate occasions, then had a chip removed from a hind leg before being operated on for a soft palate. He felt that todays good underfoot conditions and overall well being contributed to the improved performance having raced on softer ground conditions recently and also having been brought down on his most recent run.)
