Chased leaders, well off pace, poor 4th approaching 3 out, ridden straight, poor 2nd at last, stayed on well without threatening winner run-in (jockey said, regardfing running and riding, his instructions were to settle in 5th or 6th, try to be upsides at 2nd last and to do best from there; he said gelding settled and travelled in 5th or 6th and when winner kicked on with a circuit to go, he felt he was going as fast as he wanted on ground that he felt was quick enough for his mount; he held on to his mount and when he went after the leader the horse did not pick up as expected and may have been feeling the ground; he felt his mount did not really quicken and was just staying on at the same pace; trainer confirmed the instructions and said his charge is a buzzy sort who needs to be covered up. ) (op 11/8 tchd 6/4)
Chased leaders, well off pace, poor 2nd approaching 3 out, no impression under pressure straight, dropped to 3rd and kept on same pace from last (jockey said, regarding running and riding, his horse was a doubtful stayer who does not really see out the 2m trip. He also stated he was reluctant to chase after the leading horse too soon because his mount would fail to get home. Turning for home he went after the leader but could not close the gap and was readily passed to finish a clear 3rd and felt he had obtained the best possible finishing position) (op 5/2 tchd 11/4)
