Wednesday's betting preview

Four games without a win has seen Sheffield United relinquish top spot in the Championship and another tough test awaits the Blades against a much-improved Coventry outfit.

Ollie Norwood salvaged a point for the Blades with a 98th-minute equaliser in Saturday's frenetic 3-3 draw with Blackpool, a game which featured four red cards and a missed penalty, but things may not be as exciting in the West Midlands on Wednesday.

Coventry highlighted their recent improvement in Saturday’s hard-fought 1-0 win at Cardiff - their fifth match in succession to have featured a single goal or fewer.

The Sky Blues have conceded just once in that run, in a 1-0 reverse at home to league leaders Burnley, and seven of their 11 fixtures this season have rewarded backers of under 2.5 goals.

That low-scoring theme should continue against the Blades, who have injuries to contend with and have also seen under 2.5 goals cop in five of their seven road trips.

Blackpool’s point at Bramall Lane came at a price as Marvin Ekpiteta, Dominic Thompson and Shayne Lavery saw red, meaning the Seasiders could be without up to nine first-team players for Wednesday's visit of Hull.

The absence of first-choice defenders Ekpiteta and Thompson are especially significant and while Hull could capitalise, the Tigers are difficult to trust having lost seven of their last eight and conceded a league-high 28 goals in 14 games.
