Norwich vs Middlesbrough predictions

Norwich and Middlesbrough have both taken 17 points from 11 games in the Championship and will believe that by the end of the season that they can be firmly in the promotion picture.

Boro are being blighted by inconsistencies, having already suffered four defeats, while too many draws are hampering Norwich, who have shared the spoils in five of their 11 outings.

But home advantage could be key at Carrow Road, where Norwich are unbeaten in 21 Championship matches, and means that they may edge a typically tight encounter.

Boro recovered from back-to-back defeats to grind out a 1-0 victory over Sheffield United on Wednesday but they’ve been beaten in three of their five away league matches at Derby, Sunderland and Watford.

So it is difficult to see why Michael Carrick’s side warrant favouritism in Norfolk, even if Norwich are weaker than preferred without injured midfielder Marcelino Nunez.

After a sluggish start, the Canaries are slowly but surely finding their feet under manager Johannes Hoff Thorup, and their only defeat in ten came in a 1-0 reverse at Swansea.

Norwich have put four past Watford and Hull in home league wins this term while draws with Leeds and Sheffield United, two of the main promotion protagonists, further shows their capabilities.

It is likely to be a tense, low-scoring affair given there have been no more than two goals in nine of Boro’s 11 league outings, but Norwich are still the most likely of the pair to succeed.
