Tuesday's EFL predictions

League Two heavyweights MK Dons have risen from 19th to sixth in two months under ambitious manager Scott Lindsey and they can maintain their progress with a home win over Chesterfield.

The Dons have had a two-and-a-half week break since extending their winning streak to five league matches with a 3-2 success at home to Cheltenham.

Lindsey's side were not at their best against the Robins but they have had ample time to iron out the wrinkles from that performance and should be ready to give a better account of themselves against Chesterfield, who are struggling for consistency.

Chesterfield sit in eighth place but their tally of six wins from 17 league games is slightly disappointing for a side pitched among the pre-season title favourites.

The Spireites exited the FA Cup on Saturday, losing 2-0 at League One Exeter, and could suffer a second setback in four days.

Charlton's FA Cup adventure continued on Saturday with a superb 4-0 win at Walsall, but the Addicks are mid-table in League One and will be looking to climb a bit higher when they take on struggling Crawley at the Valley.

The Londoners have won five of their last seven games and will have taken a lot of confidence from their weekend success against a Saddlers side flying high in League Two.

Nathan Jones's side are looking to push for promotion and their recent resurgence looks bad news for Crawley, who haven't won on their League One travels since August.

Port Vale have been top of League Two since mid-October and can bolster their position by beating mid-table Cheltenham at Whaddon Road.

Darren Moore's Vale had a free weekend and they might have a little more energy and freshness than Cheltenham, who exited the FA Cup on Saturday with a tired 2-0 defeat at Salford.

AFC Wimbledon bowed out of the Cup with a dismal 2-1 loss at home to National League Dagenham & Redbridge and they may struggle to find an immediate response in their League Two fixture at home to Newport.

The Wombles were well below their best at the weekend and look short odds against the Exiles, who drew 0-0 at highflying Notts County last time out.
