Swansea vs Bristol City predictions

Last Sunday’s televised match from the Championship between Preston and Blackburn ended goalless and goals may also be in short supply in this week’s offering as Swansea host Bristol City.

The Swans started the weekend just outside the playoff places following back-to-back successes over Norwich and Coventry, and they have taken seven points from three home league games.

Luke Williams is getting a tune out of his Welsh charges but their strong start to the season has largely been built on strong defensive foundations.

Swansea have kept clean sheets in home wins over Preston and Norwich and they have been breached just four times in their opening six assignments.

However, the hosts have scored only seven times - three of which came in that victory over Preston - and the concern going forward for Williams is pinpointing the player who is going to provide them with a regular source of goals.

Many may still be prepared to back Swansea at odds-against given Bristol City have suffered 3-0 defeats on their last two away trips at Derby and Blackburn, where they managed a total of only seven shots on target.

That means the Robins have won only one of their last ten away games in the Championship, failing to score on five occasions, and they may find it tough to breach this disciplined Swansea defence.

But the Swans, whose leading scorer is Liam Cullen with only two goals, are hardly prolific and it is easy to see them getting embroiled in a scrappy affair.

Four of Swansea’s six matches have gone under 2.5 goals and those fixtures have featured a total of only 11 goals.
