Bradford vs Newport predictions

Bradford thumped Newport County 4-1 in both of last season's League Two meetings and they are hot favourites to beat the Exiles again on Monday.

However, the Bantams have some significant injuries and their odds look skinny after a run of one win in six league games.

Doubts over Newport are factored into the match betting but they are three points clear of Bradford after nine games and look worth supporting with the draw no bet.

County's poor away form is one reason for their inflated odds as they have lost eight of their last ten road trips, going down 4-0 at Swindon and 2-0 at Barrow in their last two.

Since then, though, they have beaten Crewe 2-1 and Salford 3-1 at Rodney Parade, where they also won 3-1 against a powerful Doncaster side in August.

Newport have claimed one win on the road this term, beating bottom club Morecambe 1-0 on August 31, and Bradford needed an 88th-minute equaliser to avoid a shock defeat at the Shrimps last time out.

That 1-1 draw followed a 2-1 defeat at struggling Harrogate and a 0-0 draw at home to AFC Wimbledon, who hit the woodwork twice.

Bradford's lack of confidence in front of goal boosts the chances of Newport causing an upset. The Exiles have allowed their opponents an alarming number of shots – an average of 16.8 per game – but they conceded only five attempts on target in their last two matches and can build on those home wins over Crewe and Salford.
