Won this race off a 1lb lower mark on the round 1m (good) last year; hasn't reproduced that form since, latterly beaten 5l in Listed/Group contests in Ireland this spring, but it wouldn't be a shock were she to revive in refitted cheekpieces.

Dual 1m Kempton scorer in 2023 and took well to turf last month, building on Nottingham third when beating the reopposing Roarin' Success in 1m Doncaster handicap (good to soft); the pair were over 2l clear of the third, so a 5lb rise looks fair enough.

Looked a nice prospect when making a winning debut at Newbury (7f, soft) last April and useful form when fourth of eight in a 1m York Listed event (good to firm) four weeks later; beaten at short odds in 1m novice at Chelmsford in August on her only subsequent start but returns as a very unexposed sort from a top stable; her lack of match practice is a worry, though, and Jim Crowley seemingly prefers Rowayeh.

Built on the promise of her first two runs when easily winning a Windsor maiden (1m, soft) last October; advanced her form again when going down by only a neck in 1m2f Haydock handicap (soft) on reappearance; highly likely capable of better again after only four starts and the drop back to 1m shouldn't inconvenience her; the forecast quicker ground is an unknown, though.

All three starts on Kempton's AW, winning 7f maiden last October and following up in stylish fashion in a novice over the same trip two weeks ago; a big-field handicap over 1m on turf asks a few different questions but there could be plenty more to come from her.

RACING POST TIP

Elim
The first three editions of this race took place on the round 1m but it switches to the straight course this year. There are quite a few unexposed sorts and they may be the ones to focus on. ELIM was an eyecatcher on her Redcar reappearance and the form has been boosted, so she gets the vote, with her strong-travelling style promising to lend itself to a race like this. Doha and Summer Of Love surely have more to come but the forecast fast ground is a question mark for the former, while Godolphin's filly has done her winning over 7f on AW, so it could be that the chief threat comes from Ed Walker's Aurora Dawn, who met all sorts of trouble at Goodwood last time and was progressive on turf last year. Twirling, Rajindri and Karsavina are a few of many others who could well.

What happened in the Kensington Palace Stakes last year?

down

VILLANOVA QUEEN proved suited by the step back up in distance and, although making her ground wider than anything else in the straight, she kept out of trouble and showed improved form on this handicap debut. Don’t Tell Claire, sixth in this from stall 16 last year, fared better from an even higher berth, making her ground wide but only beaten by a less-exposed sort. Tarrabb, who matched the pick of her turf form when second on reappearance (AW), ran well back up in trip returned to turf in the first-time tongue-tie, despite running out of room at a crucial stage.
