In last pair, never got into a jumping rhythm, very slow 5th, blundered next, mistake 10th and lost touch, tailed off and pulled up 12th (jockey said the gelding, which was pulled up, made a mistake at the first fence and was never travelling thereafter; vet reported that a post-race examination found the gelding had lost its right-fore shoe) (op 3/1 tchd 7/2)
The 2nd fence (the first coming away from the stable bend) is omitted in all chase races due to surface maintenance.
