Held up, never involved (enq held into the running and riding of the horse which after breaking slowly from the stalls and settling slightly worse than midfield had stayed on under apparent tender handling to finish ninth of twelve, beaten by 11 lengths. Jockey stated that he had been instructed to begin with a view to obtaining a prominent position, however, the horse had missed the break before racing greenly in the middle stages, adding that he was reluctant to commence a run three-wide leaving the back straight, because horse was still learning how to gallop and he felt this would have been a detrimental move, before stating that he had placed the horse under pressure entering the home straight where upon the horse had commenced to hang left-handed, a fact which he had reported at Scales, and this had prevented him from riding a more vigorous finish. Jockey further added that he had been unable to switch his whip through to his left hand as the horse had been hanging to such an extent and he was concerned about causing int to the runners on his inside. Trainer confirmed the instructions and was satisfied with the ride given, allowing for the fact that the horse had been slowly away which meant he had got further back than intended and raced very greenly. Trainer added that the rider had recommended running the horse in a ring bit on its next start, having worn a snaffle on this occasion and also indicated he would most likely step the colt up in trip.)
