A pre-race endoscopic examination revealed the gelding to have a small bleed from its upper airways which gave him no cause for concern. However, he ordered the gelding to be further examined at the start whereupon it was deemed fit to race. He added that a post-race examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. The rider stated his instructions were to let the gelding jump out, settle where he was comfortable and finish as close as he could. He further added that he switched the gelding wide in the back straight to avoid kickback before asking for an effort approaching the 3 furlong marker. The trainer's representative confirmed the instructions and that the ride had accorded with them.
