Pressed leaders, raced awkwardly at times, chased winner over 6f out to 5f out, driven and badly outpaced in 4th over 2f out but still well clear of rest, stayed on again over 1f out, took 2nd last strides
Held up in rear, steady progress from 6f out, chased leading pair 3f out, soon ridden and outpaced, driven to chase clear winner 1f out, no impression and lost 2nd last strides (op 14/1)
Steadied start, held up well in rear, still there and leaders going clear when impeded 4f out, steady progress over 3f out, shaken up to take remote 5th 2f out, stayed on well after, nearest finish but hopeless task (jockey said, regarding running and riding, her instructions were to switch the gelding off and settle it in behind runners, this being its first run over 2 miles, take the shortest route possible and that the gelding would run on. jockey further added that she had asked for an effort approx 2f out but in hindsight, she had possibly let the field get too far away from her before asking the gelding to quicken. trainer rep said that having spoken to trainer on the telephone the ride accorded with the instructions given and he was satisfied with the ride given. They further added that the gelding is a horse that needs gentle handling and does not benefit from being bullied during a race) (op 14/1)
Dwelt, held up in rear, already driven when hampered 4f out, some progress over 3f out but never remotely a threat (vet said gelding was lame on right-fore leg)
Dwelt, tracked leaders, went 3rd over 5f out and looked to be going well, soon ridden and weakened very rapidly, tailed off (jockey said gelding stopped very quickly) (op 25/1)
