In touch with leaders, pushed along before 3 out, ridden when jumped right and went second 2 out, 2 lengths down and jumped right last, outpaced run-in (op 28/1)
Towards rear of midfield, pushed along and still plenty to do before 3 out, headway 2 out, kept on and went third run-in, eyecatcher (jockey said, regarding running and riding, that his instructions were to sit mid-division, get gelding jumping and to finish as strongly as possible; he explained that he was slightly short of room both jumping and just after second flight which left him further back in the field than ideal and amidst green horses which were running around and in turn unbalancing his own horse; he added that rounding final bend he was pleased with way the gelding was travelling but met with further traffic in home straight and although gelding jumped well, he had to bide his time and it wasn't until after the last that he had found clear space; he was pleased with gelding's finishing effort, maintaining that he had achieved his best possible placing; he added that he would be recommending that gelding should stick to 2 miles but that he might benefit from a more galloping track where he could get into a better rhythm; trainer's rep confirmed instructions and that ride accorded with instructions given) (op 7/2)
Prominent, saddle slipped after 4th, not fluent 5th, disputing second and pushed along 2 out, carried right and not fluent last, weakened run-in (jockey said that his saddle slipped to the left after the fourth hurdle, making it difficult for him to ride out fully) (op 13/2)
Took keen hold, held up in rear, good headway on outer after 4 out, in touch with leaders and pushed along 3 out, jumped right and mistake 2 out, soon well held (op 5/1)
