Towards rear, pushed along and headway on inner before 3 out, switched left before 2 out, ran on run-in, nearest finish (jockey said, regarding running and riding, that his instructions had been to settle the gelding mid-division and do his best. He explained that the gelding had been buzzy in the preliminaries, however travelled well for him and jumped satisfactorily throughout. He added that the gelding initially came off the bridle leaving the back straight, whereupon he had bumped and squeezed the gelding along to maintain his position, before being inconvenienced entering the home straight when running into a pocket behind Chess Player and the weakening Joint Account. He further explained that despite continuing to nudge along after the third last hurdle, he had experienced difficulty in finding clear daylight between several weakening runners, before eventually angling the gelding widest approaching the final hurdle and availing himself of clear running. From this point in the race, the gelding had responded positively to his urgings and found the line in a pleasing manner; vet reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities) (op 33/1)
