Ran without off hind shoe, dwelt, held up, smooth headway on outside over 2f out, ridden to lead entering final furlong, headed last 75yds, held close home (vet reported gelding had lost its right hind shoe in the racecourse stables which the farrier was unable to refit) (op 4/1)
Chased leaders, ridden and every chance over 2f out, weakened over 1f out (Stewards held an enquiry into the circumstances surrounding the filly being a non-runner the day previously at Musselburgh with a Vets Cert (other); Trainer said that he noticed early in the morning of 4 August 2017 that the filly had not eaten up and appeared to be off colour; He therefore called his Vets and asked him to come and examine the filly; Trainer said vet had informed his staff that the filly was not fit to run and that he would issue a vet's cert; Trainer said that subsequently the filly had been led out that evening and appeared to have recovered sufficiently in order to run at Hamilton; Vet said filly, after an examination, was fit to run) (tchd 13/2)
