| Towards rear, some late headway from 2 out, never a danger (jockey said, regarding running and riding, that his instruction was to jump his mount off as handy as possible, but to not make the running; the gelding ran very free to the start and had to be squeezed along throughout the entire race, and while he jumped well, he did not travel at any stage. The horse made some ground up the hill on the final circuit, gave a gasp at the top of the hill and then quickened downhill. He also felt that being left at the start the gelding's chances were gone and consequently he didnt bully his mount. The trainer confirmed these instructions, and knew the gelding's fate, once the gelding was left at he start, the gelding was better with company and today he showed no enthausiam when left on his own; vet said gelding was found to be coughing post-race.)
