Close up throughout, ridden to dispute lead approaching last, still level jumping last, hard ridden run-in, headed 100yds out, rallied to just get up close home (trainer said, regarding the apparent improvement in form shown, that he was disappointed with the gelding's run at Sligo where, despite the ground description of Good, it was very tacky; he said that gelding was thoroughly checked after the race and no abnormality was found; he further stated that, in his opinion, gelding did not battle when he got crowded in that race; he said that gelding was eased down in his training since then and was allowed to freshen up; he concluded by saying that different tactics were employed today in that they allowed gelding to be up with the pace and this, combined with a very good round of jumping may have contributed to the success; he also stated that all his runners have run very well in recent weeks) (op 11/1 tchd 14/1)
Led and disputed throughout, headed after 2 out, stayed 2nd and ran on under pressure to dispute lead last, led narrowly run-in, headed again close home (op 13/2 tchd 7/1)
In rear, ridden after 2 out and no extra (trainer said gelding was found to have a respiratory infection following a post-race endoscopic examination) (op 11/4)
