Chased leaders, lost position 5th, shaken up and weakened before 3 out (enq held into the running and riding of the gelding which jumped off prominently and raced handy through the early stages before losing ground from halfway and appearing to be tenderly handled in the home straight, to finish thirteenth of sixteen runners, beaten 50 lengths. jockey said his instructions were to be positive and get a good position with the option to make the running if there was no pace, furthermore the gelding is a green type which settled nicely and jumped satisfactorily on this occasion, however was on and off the bridle in the back straight and needed to be nudged and squeezed along in order to try and maintain his position. He added that the gelding did not respond to his urgings and became unbalanced running down the hill, whereupon he felt it prudent thereafter to hold the weakening gelding together and ensure that it jumped the final hurdles safely and finished the race) (tchd 33/1)
