Travelled strongly, towards rear, going okay but still plenty to do when switched to centre over 1f out, soon nudged along, kept on well inside final furlong, hung right towards finish, nearest finish (jockey said, regarding running and riding, that his instructions were to hold up the gelding in mid-field with cover and to bring it through for a late run, challenging through horses. He explained that he has ridden and won on the gelding previously when riding in a similar manner and, in his experience, it needs to be kept on the bridle for as long as possible. He added that, in his opinion, due to the slow early pace the field was compacted, preventing him from obtaining a clear run until the final stages of the race, a fact which he reported to scales.
