'It’s a super family' - Mr Bramley emulates sibling with Wetherby success to continue Jedd O'Keeffe’s fine form
Jedd O'Keeffe’s superb run of form continued when Mr Bramley made a successful reappearance in the feature 2m3½f handicap hurdle.
The Craig Nichol-ridden six-year-old won back-to-back novice events at Bangor and Carlisle last season and recorded his first handicap success to make it three winners from O'Keeffe’s last five runners.
Mr Bramley had been second on his two previous visits to the West Yorkshire venue before emulating his half-brother Mr Scrumpy, who won twice at the track for O'Keeffe.
“It’s a super family and we’ve got another relative as well,” the winning trainer told Racing TV. “He’s a nephew of Mr Bramley and is only three at the moment. Howard Posner owns him as well and we’re hoping he’s another one for the future.”
Smart mare
Let It Rain, winner of both bumper starts including in Listed company at Ascot last season, got off the mark over hurdles at the second time of asking under Harry Skelton.
The Dan Skelton-trained five-year-old went one better than at Chepstow last time in the 2m mares’ novice hurdle.
Skelton’s other favourite at the meeting, Skycutter, chased home Caithness in the 1m7f novice handicap chase. However, Great Fleet later provided the trainer with an across-the-cards double when making a successful rules debut in Market Rasen’s bumper.
Half-century up
Gavin Sheehan bookended the card with victories on Jamie Snowden’s stable debutant Marche D'Aligre and the Noel Williams-trained Queenofthejukebox to reach 50 winners for the season.
Super Street
East Street made it four wins from six course starts when striking on his second outing since being bought for £14,000 by James Owen in the 3m handicap chase.
