Favourite is beaten at 1.01 as jockey Shane Quinlan ends long wait for a winner with 22-1 shock
Harrys Hope joined the dreaded 1.01 losers club after she was beaten at the basement Betfair Exchange price when nabbed on the line by Face D'Music in the 3m1f handicap chase.
The Ben Pauling-trained Harrys Hope looked set to complete a four-timer when hitting the front two out and jumping the final fence clear, but she began to idle as the line approached. That allowed the the fast-finishing Shane Quinlan-ridden 22-1 outsider to get up by a neck.
The shock was the jockey's first victory for 255 days and maintained Face D'Music's strong Hereford record, having not finished out of the first two in four starts there.
Winning trainer Katy Price said: "He was very good today and we're very happy. He'd been schooling very well at home and jumped brilliantly today. It was a much-needed confidence booster for Shane.
"It's horses for courses as he won over hurdles at Hereford in May too, even though he looks like he wants a more galloping track. He's only five and a few things went wrong earlier this season, but they're going right now."
How the race unfolded
Brilliant November
Paul Nicholls' red-hot November continued when Just Lucky Sivola took the trainer's strike-rate this month to 29 per cent with a narrow win under Harry Cobden in the 2m3½f novice hurdle.
"The horses are going well and it's definitely the right time for them to be doing so," said Nicholls. "Harry gave him a superb ride as he's still a bit green, but there should be lots of improvement to come."
