Arqana's Arc Sale on the eve of the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe provides another layer of interest to a weekend not exactly short of intrigue and excitement.

Held at Saint-Cloud racecourse, after the first day of racing just across the Seine at Longchamp, the boutique event features a number of horses set to have raced that day or lined up for a start on Sunday.

Among their number is the progressive Columbus (lot 17), an Oasis Dream colt who landed the Group 3 Prix de Lutece over the course and distance of Saturday's Group 2 Prix Chaudenay.

The same race is set to feature Listed scorer Trafalgar Square (54), the three-year-old winner of a valuable Arqana Series event at Deauville and Dollar Index (28), another son of Kendargent who has placed three times in Listed company this year.

The Aga Khan Studs have among their draft another Chaudenay entry in Shamarkand (31), a Harzand colt who was third in the Lutece and landed a Listed race at Vichy on his penultimate start, as well as Prix Ganay and Foy runner-up Zarir (38), recent German Group 2 runner-up Elamaz (48) and Dolayli (51), a Siyouni gelding from the family of Dalakhani and Daylami who was fourth to Mqse De Sevigne in the Group 1 Prix d'Ispahan this spring.

One of the standouts is undoubtedly Deutsches Derby winner Palladium (34), a son of Gleneagles who ran out a neck winner of the German Classic at Hamburg this summer and is being offered by OH Consignment on behalf of Liberty Racing.

Mondo Man (32), fifth to Look De Vega in the Prix du Jockey Club, is another who brings Classic form, while Prix Daniel Wildenstein entry Ramadan (41) has twice won in Group company this season for Sumbe and was fifth in the Poule d'Essai des Poulains to Metropolitan.

Dual German Group scorer See Hector (53), also a Group winner in Italy, is another smart offering, alongside Wertheimer pair Sacred Spirit (15) and Sober (14), the latter a winner of the Group 2 Prix Kergorlay and Prix Vicomtesse Vigier last season, and stakes-winning Waldgeist filly Waldora (25).

For those looking for two-year-old form, Rosa Salvaje (29) was last seen finishing a fine third to Zaragina in the Group 3 Prix d'Aumale and is set to take on the Aga Khan's hot prospect in the Prix Marcel Boussac on Arc day.

The daughter of Ashford Stud's first-season sire Maximum Security was also a three-quarter length second to subsequent Goffs Millions winner Apples And Bananas in a Listed race at Deauville in August. Rosa Salvage's Christopher Head stablemate La Guapisima (43), who finished just behind her last time and has a Listed win in the bag, is also engaged in the same race.

Revolutionnaire (45), a winning Penny's Picnic colt who was recently a close third for Francis Graffard in the Prix La Rochette, is set to take his chance in a competitive Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere after a potential sale. Another interesting juvenile in the mix is Karl Burke's consistent Kaadi (47), who is black type placed on a heap of occasions already this season. Gianluca Bietolini's Grand Grey (33) is set to shoot for the stars in Sunday's Prix de l'Abbaye.

The catalogue can be viewed here.
