Paul Kealy provides his Placepot perm at Goodwood

Credit: Alan Crowhurst

There's likely to be non-runners all over Britain given the conditions, so places for Placepot perms will be at a premium, but we'll go to Goodwood, where I fancy a few.

In the opener (1.15) is on her third trainer in as many starts, but she won here on her debut, has the best form and her pedigree is all about soft ground.

I cannot see how (1.50) finishes out of the first two in the Prestige as she is going to stay well and will like the ground, so she's a banker, too.

The 7f handicap (2.25) is much harder, so I'll go with three. Batteredand Milltown Starare two and, with the ground likely to be desperate, , who romped home here in similar conditions last season, is the other.

Only four go in the next (3.00), which means we need the winner, so favourite Cabalettais joined by , who ran a career best for the time when second in Listed company on heavy ground last season and shaped here last month as though he wanted a big step up in trip.

is the form horse on soft ground in the Celebration Mile (3.35), while with doubts about some of the others on the surface I'll also take a chance on the rapidly improving .

Finally, Frontispieceand would be my two against the field in a devilishly difficult last leg (4.10).
