Chepstow Placepot picks: Olly Eden banking on well-treated Nicholls runner

The opening 2m3½f handicap hurdle (1.25) at Chepstow is a trappy race.

The Plimsoll Line bumped into a subsequent Graded handicap winner on his penultimate start and looks the likeliest winner, while Halifax is consistent and has shaped as though this step up in trip is worth exploring.

The first division of the 2m novice hurdle (2.00) looks a belter. Butch is held in the highest regard by Olly Murphy and should feature. Pikar was pitched into Graded company last season, is proven over hurdles and sets a good standard.

Beau Balko could be a superstar, but is likely to take a big chunk out of the market in the weaker second division (2.35). I'm siding with cosy bumper winner Uncle Arthurand the Dan Skelton-trained hurdling debutant Deafening Silence.

Ballyblack and Ballybreeze should both improve for the switch to fences in the 2m novice handicap chase (3.10), while Sonigino remains well treated and rates banker material in the 2m handicap hurdle (3.45).

The 2m7½f handicap chase (4.20) is competitive despite having just six runners. Jeremy Pass goes well fresh and is worth including, alongside Reserve Tank, who is on a dangerous mark and could be revitalised following a stable switch.
