Alexandre Pantoja vs Kai Asakura prediction

There are only a handful of instances where a debutant has fought for an undisputed UFC title but Kai Asakura will do just that in the main event of UFC 310 when he faces flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja at Las Vegas's T-Mobile Arena.

The Japanese superstar moves over from RIZIN, where he was a two-time Bantamweight champion, with huge hype behind him.

A knockout artist with a huge social media following, the 31-year-old has a 21-4 record boasting 16 career stoppages, including 13 by KO.

Pantoja, meanwhile, will aim to successfully defend the title which he won last year when he defeated Brandon Moreno for a third time.

His first defence against Brandon Royval last December was another successful rematch, while Steve Erceg pushed Pantoja all the way at UFC 301 as the Brazilian retained his title via a hotly contested decision win.

There are lots of unknowns in this fight an Asakura has to adapt to the various differences between RIZIN and the UFC.

There is no doubt the Japanese fighter has the power to score a knockout in the first half of the contest but Pantoja’s boundless energy and grappling could make it hard for the newcomer to see the final bell.

Shavkat Rakhmonov vs Ian Machado Garry prediction

Two undefeated welterweights clash in the co-main event with Shavkat Rakhmonov and Ian Machado Garry facing off in a number one contender fight.

Combat Sambo specialist Rakhmonov is 18-0 and has impressively finished every single opponent he has faced.

Six of those have come in the UFC, including signature submission wins against Stephen Thompson, Geoff Neal and Neil Magny.

Ireland's Machado Garry is 15-0 and has fought eight times in UFC, outpointing his last three opponents in Michael Page as well as Neal and Magny.

The 27-year-old has shown himself to be both an astute tactician and a talented all-rounder.

Rakhmonov was due to headline this card against champion Belal Muhammad, who withdrew through injury and still feels a couple of steps ahead of Machado Garry.

The Irishman will look to use his footwork to evade Rakhmonov’s best weapons, but over five rounds this feels like a tall order against a fighter as ruthless as the Kazakhstani.

Ciryl Gane vs Alexander Volkov prediction

Cyril Gane returns to action in a heavyweight rematch against Alexander Volkov which could finish the same way as their 2021 clash.

Frenchman Gane was last seen defeating Serghei Spivac last September, bouncing back from his one-round submission defeat to Jon Jones for the vacant title.

The former interim champion has earned some criticism for taking time out to focus on acting, but he has remained in training for several other fights which didn’t come to fruition.

The 34-year-old is one of the most talented heavyweights on the roster, with exceptional speed and athleticism for his 6ft 4in frame.

Volkov has won his last four fights since losing to Tom Aspinall in 2019, defeating Sergei Pavlovich, Tai Tuivasa, Alexandr Romanov and Jairzinho Rozenstruik.

While the giant Russian has shown good form, Gane won their first fight over five rounds and may benefit further from the pacing of a three-round contest.

Who is on the UFC 310 main card?

Alexandre Pantoja vs Kai Asakura (for Pantoja’s UFC flyweight title)
Shavkat Rakhmonov vs Ian Machado Garry (UFC welterweight title eliminator)
Ciryl Gane vs Alexander Volkov
Bryce Mitchell vs Kron Gracie
Nate Landwehr vs Doo Ho Choi
