Tuesday's US Open predictions

Tuesday marks the start of the quarter-finals at this year's US Open and there are American representatives in three of the four matches taking place with Taylor Fritz and Emma Navarro among those in action.

Taylor Fritz vs Alexander Zverev predictions

A first Grand Slam semi-final beckons for Fritz, who can see off fourth seed Zverev on Tuesday.

Fritz has dropped just one set en route to the quarter-finals this year and he is a man for the big occasion, having also reached this stage at the Australian Open and Wimbledon.

He fired down 24 aces and 56 winners in the course of fighting back from a set down to defeat Casper Ruud last time out.

And having won two of last three meetings with Zverev, he is worth chancing to prevail again.

Grigor Dimitrov vs Frances Tiafoe predictions

Although he turned 33 in May, Grigor Dimitrov remains a dangerous Grand Slam competitor and he is unlikely to go down without a fight against Frances Tiafoe in the US Open quarter-finals.

But Dimitrov's inferior athleticism could let him down against the homeland battler and the fact that the Bulgarian was taken to five sets by Andrey Rublev last time out is unlikely to help his cause.

Tiafoe has comfortably curtailed the hard-hitting of Alexei Popyrin and Ben Shelton in the last two rounds and he can secure a spot in the last four.

Paula Badosa vs Emma Navarro predictions

Defending women's singles champion Coco Gauff is out of the US Open but the player who beat her, Emma Navarro, may also crash out in the quarter-finals.

Navarro is into her second successive Grand Slam quarter-final and her win over third seed Gauff in the last 16 was arguably the highlight of her season.

She has the home crowd well behind her but she could come unstuck against Paula Badosa, who has also been in exceptional form on hard courts.

Badosa won the Washington DC title then reached the last four of the WTA Cincinnati last month and the Spaniard's mobility from the baseline can help to see her over the line.

Qinwen Zheng vs Aryna Sabalenka predictions

Aryna Sabalenka was a finalist at last year's US Open and she has breezed through the opening rounds at Flushing Meadows, dropping just one set in four matches.

It is no wonder then that she is favourite to take down Olympic gold medallist Qinwen Zheng in her quarter-final.
