Preview
It's the 50th year of the ATP Finals and the last of a long 12-year run in London but this year's indoor hard-court tournament, which starts on Sunday, will be like no other with hardly any spectators allowed in the O2 venue.
Novak Djokovic, who tops the Tokyo 1970 Group, is unsurprisingly the clear favourite for the title. The world number one was playing some blinding tennis on clay in the French Open before running into Rafael Nadal in the Roland Garros final, but it's five years since the super Serb won the last of his five titles in the year-ending tournament.
And while Djokovic could still take plenty of stopping in the English capital, given that he has come up short in two of the last four ATP Finals title matches he can be taken on at the available prices.
The trophy went the way of three outsiders in the last three years with Grigor Dimitrov, Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas tasting glory. All three are considerably younger than the classic big four of Roger Federer, Nadal, Djokovic and Andy Murray.
Zverev and last year's champion Tsitsipas try again and both could go well, although Zverev, while still playing fine tennis after a busy and successful indoor run, may face off-court problems in the near future.
Tsitsipas thoroughly deserved his close final victory over Dominic Thiem in London last year and both men could again go well, but the Greek may find debutant Andrey Rublev a tough opponent in the London 2020 Group.
Given that Nadal, a lion outdoors, is a lot less of a titan indoors, it's surprising his outright price isn't bigger. He has never won this title either and made the final only twice.
If Djokovic is found wanting, the player to take advantage could be Daniil Medvedev. The Russian is one of the fresher performers competing in London this season. After a quiet phase, he returned to title-winning form with a bang in the Paris Masters recently and was so impressive on Bercy's indoor courts that a quick follow-up on this side of the Channel looks perfectly feasible.
Rublev and Tsitsipas can definitely be backed to win the London Group - the first-phase betting probably offers better punting opportunities than the title betting. But either may find Medvedev tough to dislodge were one of them to set up a final rumble with the more experienced of the two Russians.
