UK Championship predictions

Jack Lisowski will be buoyed by victories over Mark Selby and Ali Carter at this year's UK Championship but Jackpot’s run in York may be cut short by Mark Allen in the quarter-finals.

It has been a welcome return to form for the Lisowski, who has offered little in the way of deep tournament runs this season, but the 33-year-old is becoming a rather disappointing performer.

Lisowski hasn’t threatened to land a ranking event title since reaching the final of the low-key Gibraltar Open in 2021, whereas Allen has been winning major trophies on a regular basis.

The Pistol has won seven tournaments in just over three years and semi-final appreanaces at the recent Champion of Champions event and British Open suggest that another trip to the winner's enclosure isn’t too far away.

Allen compiled two century breaks and runs of 73, 80 and 82 in his 6-4 last-16 victory over Wu Yize and he appears to be finding his stride in York at just the right moment.

A near-peak Allen should be too good for Lisowski and, on the evidence of the last few seasons, the Antrim man is a worthy favourite to reach the last four.
