Snooker 900 preview

After two months of late night drama, amateur snooker’s newest and most lucrative innovation, the Snooker Legends 900, comes to its conclusion in Reading tonight.

The format, a single frame of 15 minutes’ duration, has thrown up lots of excitement plus a few shocks along the way.

The final eight players bring together an interesting blend of former professionals, leading amateurs and a bright young prospect in 19-year-old Alfie Lee, son of former world number five Stephen Lee.

The draw for finals night would suggest that the top half is the trickier to call with recently relegated Main Tour players Martin O’Donnell, Ben Hancorn and Andrew Higginson all involved.

For that reason, the concluding quarter-final between Lee and the undefeated Ant Parsons could be key.

The winner of this match should progress to the final and Lee is the preferred bet to pick up the title and the record £10,000 first prize.
