South Africa vs Argentina predictions

South Africa need just a single point to win the Rugby Championship for only the second time and the Springboks should have too much for nearest rivals Argentina in Nelspruit.

The Boks are out for revenge after losing 29-28 to Los Pumas last Saturday in Santiago del Estero, a result which means the Argentinians have beaten New Zealand, Australia and South Africa in this year's tournament.

And while they seem unlikely to record a landmark double over the world champions on Saturday, they could run the Boks closer than expected.

South Africa boss Rassie Erasmus has rotated throughout the tournament and makes six changes for this match, including selecting Manie Libbok at fly-half.

The 27-year-old missed a potentially match-winning penalty last week and Erasmus has made contingency plans should his accuracy be off again, with Handre Pollard an early option off the bench, as was the case in last year's World Cup semi-final.

However, Argentina boss Felipe Contepomi believes Libbok is the "perfect fit" for the number-ten role as South Africa look to expand their attacking play and the Boks coaching staff are clearly keen to give him as many chances as possible.

Still, his profligacy when kicking for the posts means the hosts could leave points out on the field.

South Africa's home wins over New Zealand in this year's Rugby Championship were by four and six points and they may have to settle for another narrow win at the Mbombela Stadium.
