Scotland vs Portugal predictions

It was strange to hear a side who had just won 32-15 emerge from victory frustrated, but that was the consensus in the South Africa camp following last Sunday's victory over Scotland.

The Springboks may have scored all four of the game's tries but Rassie Erasmus was adamant that the result flattered the world champions and hailed their hosts as "one of the best in the world".

The defeat may still have felt all too familiar for Gregor Townsend's Scots, who have often promised plenty but fallen short in characteristically plucky fashion.

This weekend's match against Portugal, who lost 21-17 to the USA last weekend, could feel like a role reversal for the hosts, though.

Playing at Murrayfield serves as an acknowledgement of Os Lobos' achievements at last year's World Cup, where they ran Australia and Wales close, drew with Georgia and beat Fiji, and as a chance to accelerate their development by testing themselves against better opposition.

Understandably, Townsend has chosen to rotate, with Darcy Graham among those returning after a concussion.

With Duhan van der Merwe rested, Graham could grab the two tries he needs to take him past his fellow winger and become Scotland's record tryscorer.

The 27-year-old crossed four times against Fiji a fortnight ago and has a real opportunity to surpass his colleague.
