Newcastle vs Harlequins predictions

Neither Newcastle nor Harlequins have been in inspiring form in recent weeks and the two clubs head into this Friday night contest in dire need of an upturn in fortunes.

The Falcons are once again propping up the rest of the Premiership after picking up just two victories in the league this season, although that is a marked improvement from last campaign in which they lost every match.

Both of their victories have come at Kingston Park but Steve Diamond’s men have lost both of their last two at home in all competitions - a 22-14 defeat to Dragons in the Challenge Cup followed by a convincing 40-15 loss to Premiership leaders Bath.

Quins have hardly been in much better form and their only victory in their last six was a 53-16 win over Stormers in the European Rugby Champions Cup.

However, they did put an end to their league losing streak last time out with a 34-34 draw against Leicester Tigers at Twickenham.

While their recent record may leave a lot to be desired, Harlequins have been dominant in head-to-head meetings with Newcastle over the last few seasons, winning each of their last eight contests.

Five of the last six victories have all come via a margin of at least 12 points and, given the Falcons have scored a league-low of 69 home points this season, Quins could find it easy to pull away.
