Saturday Premiership preview & predictions

Bristol were top of the Premiership table after four rounds thanks to some high-scoring performances but their swashbuckling style may not cut it against Saracens on Saturday.

Last week’s 40-35 victory over Exeter brought the total number of tries in Bristol’s last three matches up to 30 – 17 for and 13 against.

That kind of open game is a huge risk against a side as efficient and ruthless as Saracens and the Londoners can take full advantage.

The hosts are without the experienced duo of Steve Luatua and Benhard Janse van Rensburg as well as England outside back Max Malins and are taking on a team looking to bounce back from a first defeat of the season last week at Harlequins.

Saracens have a couple of injuries too as fly-half Fergus Burke and back-row forward Ben Earl miss out but their stronger squad can cope and Sarries, who covered the handicap in their three victories this season, can make light work of a two-point line.

Saturday's second Premiership match should be an entertaining affair as Quins host Bath at the Stoop.

The hosts won this fixture 40-36 in March and both clubs boast creative talent at fly-half and dangerous backlines.

Quins pulled off a famous win over Saracens last weekend but bookmakers make the visitors marginal favourites for this clash.
