Leigh Leopards vs Huddersfield Giants predictions

Leigh got their Super League campaign up and running with a remarkable golden-point victory at champions Wigan following the first pointless 80 minutes in the competition's 29-year history.

Gareth O'Brien's winning drop goal in extra-time was certainly dramatic but Leopards fans will be hopeful that there is a tad more entertainment on offer when their side welcome Huddersfield to Lancashire on Sunday.

The two sides met three times in 2024 and it was tight on each occasion. Leigh were six and four-point victors in the pair's final two clashes last year while the Giants caused a minor upset in round one with a 16-8 victory at the Leigh Sports Village.

Huddersfield battled hard in their opening 20-12 defeat to Warrington last week as they showed some signs of encouragement following what new head coach Luke Robinson called a "torrid pre-season" due to a raft of injuries.

Robinson did not have had any qualms with the Giants' effort against the Wolves, but he did highlight a slight naivity in his side's game-management and that could prove their downfall against a well drilled Leopards outfit.

Leigh shouldn't have things all their own way, however, and a home win by no more than two converted scores could offer the best angle into the match for bettors.
