Hull KR vs Warrington Wolves predictions
Warrington Wolves broke the hearts of ten-time Betfred Super League champions St Helens last weekend and they can end Hull KR's dreams of a first Grand Final with a narrow victory in their semi-final showdown at Craven Park on Friday.
George Williams' golden-point drop goal sealed victory in an eliminator which finished 22-all after a thrilling 80 minutes at the Halliwell Jones, and it would be no surprise to see Friday's clash in East Yorkshire follow a similar pattern.
Hull KR are 80 minutes away from their first trip to Old Trafford and they are a formidable force on home soil.
However, standing in their way are a Wire side who have won four of the pair's last five meetings. One of those came in round four when the Wolves ran out 22-20 winners at this venue and they followed that success with a more comprehensive 20-8 win back on home soil in May.
Rovers ran out 22-4 winners in the pair's most recent meeting in August and both have won five of their last six matches heading into Friday's crucial contest.
Taking on KR at Craven Park is not done easily but Warrington's greater experience of the big occasion might just prove decisive.
Rarely does a side run away with it in this fixture and the last six meetings have been settled by margins of 18, 12, two, seven, eight and eight, so a Wolves win by one to 12 points looks the bet.
Rovers have had a week off to prepare after pipping Warrington to second place in the final regular-season standings, meaning the Wolves will have to do things the hard way following last week's dust-up with Saints. However, that could actually work in the Wire's favour as maintaining a rhythm can be more advantageous at this stage of the season.
Sam Burgess's men reached the final four with an extra-time drop goal on Saturday and, in what is likely to be another tight contest, backing another successful one-pointer at 11-4 also looks a value option.
