Friday's Betfred Super League predictions

There are just two rounds of the Betfred Super League regular season remaining and round 26 could be a pivotal week in the playoff shake-up.

Wigan Warriors will seal top spot if they beat Leeds Rhinos and Hull KR lose at Leigh Leopards, while St Helens could slip further away from qualifying for the finals for the first time since 1998.

The ten-time champions are in grave danger of not making the top six and cannot afford to lose either of their remaining matches.

A nervy night looks likely at the Totally Wicked Stadium where the Red Vee take on a Castleford Tigers side who beat them 8-6 as recently as July.

Saints have been in miserable shape as injuries have cut deep and they have won just three of their last 11 matches.

They should get the job done on Friday but a comprehensive victory looks unlikely so backing Cas with a hefty 20-point start looks the way to go.

Things may not be straightforward for Wigan, either, after they reclaimed top spot from Hull KR last week with a home win over the Robins.

A tight clash fell Wigan's way by a 24-20 scoreline and things could be tight at the DW Stadium once again this week.

The champions take on a fast-finishing Leeds Rhinos side who must win both of their final fixtures to have any chance of prolonging their season.

The Rhinos hammered the Cherry & Whites 30-4 last month and have won four of their last six meetings so backing the Headingley men with a 12-point start seems a sensible play.

Hull KR put everything into last week's loss at Wigan and they will need to be at their best to get the better of in-form Leigh on Friday.

The Leopards have won five straight matches and started the round in fifth place with St Helens, Leeds and Catalans breathing down their necks.

A win would all but seal Leigh's playoff spot but KR are a tough team to beat so backing the visitors to edge a tight encounter could be the best course of action.
