The race to make the Super League playoffs will heat up on Saturday as three teams in the hunt for sixth place take to the field as part of a double-header.

Saturday's afternoon kick-off sees strugglers Hull FC welcome sixth-placed St Helens to the MKM Stadium, and the visitors will be eager to snap a five-match losing streak.

Hull FC beat Wigan Warriors two weeks ago, but they have won only two of their last 14 games, and Saturday's game will be Saints' easiest for several weeks.

Paul Wellens' team will be without Jack Welsby, Mark Percival and Jonny Lomax, but the return of Morgan Knowles and Joe Batchelor will add some much-needed experience.

Saints just need to get back on that winning trail and they should have too much nous for their hosts.

Later in the day, fifth-placed Salford welcome seventh-placed Leeds to Greater Manchester in a game that could have enormous implications for the rest of the campaign.

Salford have won five of their previous seven but they have looked a tad lethargic in the last few weeks. They lost two on the spin in July before grinding out a 30-22 success over Castleford, and the last thing they need is to play Leeds.

The Rhinos got their first win under interim coach Brad Arthur last week, and they were braver in defence and quicker with the ball in hand.

Arthur's teams usually play as a compact unit and they should be able to overpower Salford on the road.
