Betfred Super League playoff predictions

Wigan Warriors have won the three trophies available to them in 2024 and the World Champions, Challenge Cup holders and League Leaders' Shield winners can make it a fantastic four by winning the Grand Final at Old Trafford on October 12.

They were tipped at the start of the season to retain their title and there seems no reason to now desert the Warriors, who finished top of the pile after 27 brutal rounds of the regular season.

It's been another stellar season for Matt Peet's men who edged past Catalans Dragons 10-2 in last season's decider and followed it up with a 16-12 triumph over NRL champions Penrith Panthers at the DW Stadium in February.

The Challenge Cup followed in June, when Warrington Wolves were the beaten finalists in an 18-8 arm-wrestle at Wembley.

And the Wolves could be the side once again licking their wounds following another disappointment at the hands of the Warriors.

Warrington are fancied to join Wigan in the Grand Final but with no name-the-finalists betting available, backing the Wire at 4-1 each-way looks the best course of action.

Sam Burgess's side have won six of their final seven matches in the closing rounds of the season and are likely to face Hull KR at Craven Park in next week's semi-finals.

First they must get past ten-time champions St Helens on Saturday but a home contest with the Red Vee looks eminently winnable. Warrington have won all three meetings in 2024 by an aggregate of 71-20.

St Helens failed to score more than ten points in any of those three matches, and having scraped into the playoffs with a sixth-place finish they aren't fancied to get much further.

It is hard to overlook Hull KR, especially with home advantage in their favour, as they have beaten most sides this season on the way to their best regular-season finish.

However, their lack of experience in these do-or-die matches could stand against them, and Warrington have already won at Craven Park this season.

The first eliminator on Friday sees Salford Red Devils host Leigh Leopards and bookmakers are struggling to separate the sides who finished fourth and fifth.

Salford are evens to prolong their campaign, with Leigh 4-5 shots but it really is a match which could swing either way.

That looks a fair assessment, but whichever side gets through will go on to face Wigan at the DW Stadium next week and that looks a step too far for the plucky pair.
