Erik ten Hag is 7-2 from 9-1 with Betfair and Paddy Power to be the first Premier League manager to leave their post after the Dutchman’s Manchester United side were humiliated 3-0 by fierce rivals Liverpool on Sunday.

United received an early let-off when a seventh-minute strike from Trent Alexander-Arnold was ruled out after Mo Salah was adjudged to be offside.

However, the Red Devils did not learn from their mistakes and two costly errors from Casemiro were ruthlessly punished by Liverpool and Luis Diaz, who notched a first-half brace.

Salah, who laid on both of Diaz’s goals, put the game to bed on 56 minutes, slotting home his tenth goal in nine league and cup appearances at Old Trafford and his 15th in all against the Red Devils.

While bookmakers shoved United out from 3-1 to 5-1 for a top-four finish this season following their abject performance, they were more impressed with Liverpool, who were clipped into 9-2 from 11-2 to win the Premier League.

Victory at the Theatre of Dreams was their third in a row under new manager Arne Slot and they are one of only two sides alongside champions Manchester City to have made a perfect start to the campaign.

City, who beat West Ham 3-1 on Saturday, are the general 11-10 favourites to win a fifth title in succession with last season’s runners-up Arsenal next in the betting at 9-4.

Sunday's early top-flight encounters saw Chelsea held to a 1-1 draw by London rivals Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge and Newcastle beat Tottenham 2-1 at St James’ Park thanks to a late strike from Alexander Isak.

Newcastle took the lead on Tyneside through Harvey Barnes just before half-time but Spurs deservedly levelled the game when Dan Burn put through his own net after the break.

However, as Tottenham pushed for a winner, Isak struck against the run of play to send Eddie Howe’s men up to fifth, level on points with Brighton and Arsenal.

The Toon were cut to 5-2 to claim a top-four finish this season, the same price as Spurs, who were eased slightly from 2-1 before kick-off.

The first Old Firm clash of the season was won emphatically by Celtic, who are as short as 1-8 to retain their Scottish Premiership title.

Well-taken goals from Daizen Maeda, Kyogo Furuhashi and Callum McGregor led Celtic to a 3-0 victory over their Glasgow rivals, who are now 9-2 to end the Bhoys’ time as champions.
