Huddersfield's last home Premier League fixture for a while could end up like the majority of them this season - in defeat.

Fourteen of Huddersfield's 18 league matches at the John Smith's Stadium have finished in away wins and that helps to explain relegated Town's terrible campaign in which they have collected only 14 points.

Huddersfield recorded a famous success over Manchester United in October 2017, although the tables are set to be turned in their penultimate match before returning to the Sky Bet Championship.

It could be a while before the Terriers are back in the big time.

The magic of last season's Premier League survival season has gone. David Wagner brought together a bonded squad who played with heart, desire and no little tactical acumen.

Wagner is no longer there and nor is much of what made Huddersfield special in the first place. It would be wrong to say Wagner's replacement, Jan Siewert, is totally out of his depth but he has not convinced, albeit in difficult circumstances.

Huddersfield have lost 21 of their 23 league matches since the start of December and failed to score in eight of their 11 defeats to the big six.

Indeed, Huddersfield have registered just 20 Premier League goals all season so even David de Gea, despite his dodgy form, should fancy his chances of collecting a much-needed clean sheet.

Backing a United win to nil could be the pick of the odds-against prices but a safer punt may be to take the strong road favourites to triumph in a match with no more than four goals.

A bet on the away sides to do that would have collected in 13 of Huddersfield's 18 home fixtures, including the visit of Manchester City (0-3), Liverpool (0-1), Tottenham (0-2), Chelsea (0-3) and Arsenal (1-2).

United almost need snookers in their bid to reach the Champions League qualification spots with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's magic running out since the miraculous success away to Paris St-Germain in early March.

The subsequent ten matches have resulted in seven defeats and just two wins, which were unconvincing efforts at home to Watford and West Ham.

However, it has mainly been a tough set of fixtures with a Barcelona double-header, home dates with City and Chelsea and tricky trips to Wolves (twice), Arsenal and Everton.

This is much easier, on paper at least, although United may not be rampant as an attacking force with doubts over the fitness of a number of their offensive players.

Recommendation
Man Utd to win & under 4.5 goals
