Peter Uihlein started this year as world number 279 but has rocketed up to 56th after a series of impressive performances, and the former US Amateur champion appears to be approaching the peak of his powers.

Uihlein, finally fully fit after several injury setbacks in his professional career, has finished tenth, fifth and 14th in his last three tournaments, and can be fancied to finish the Nedbank Challenge as top American.
