Washington Commanders at Philadelphia Eagles predictions
The Philadelphia Eagles are on a five-game winning run and can continue their charge with a convincing Thursday Night Football success over the Washington Commanders at Lincoln Financial Field.
The Eagles' last five victories came by an average of 16.4 points and while the doubters will point to the quality of the opposition - Cleveland, New York Giants, Jacksonville, Cincinnati and Dallas without Dak Prescott - it's still an impressive stretch of results.
The hosts are doing what they do best - dominating opponents with a sound running game, explosive plays and formidable defence.
It's been claimed that Washington's Jayden Daniels has eclipsed Jalen Hurts as the NFC East's top quarterback and that Washington, not Philadelphia, are the team to beat in the conference this season, so the Eagles should be fired up for this content.
Fresh off a straightforward 34-6 win against the Prescott-less Cowboys, Philly return home feeling good about themselves.
The Commanders, meanwhile, experienced their first loss in four weeks against Pittsburgh on Sunday, and they left banged up with starting running back Brian Robinson Jr and three offensive linemen all doubts for this one.
Washington have been resilient and have covered the spread in seven games this season but this looks a difficult match against an Eagles team who rank in the top two in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns per game.
The Commanders are among the worst units in the NFL against the run and over the last three weeks they’ve allowed more than 500 rushing yards to three mediocre units in the Bears, the Giants and the Steelers.
On the other side of the ball, Philly's defence is getting better and Daniels is finally showing some imperfections in his rookie season, throwing for just 411 yards, and two TDs with a 59 per cent completion rate over the Commanders' last two games.
