This week's NFL TV game predictions

Philadelphia Eagles at New Orleans Saints predictions

The New Orleans Saints have made a stunning start to the 2024 NFL season, but there is a chance that they are being overhyped.

The Saints have already scored 91 points in their wins over the Carolina Panthers and Dallas Cowboys. While their win over Carolina was no shock, the fact they scored 44 points against Dallas put the league on notice.

Saints running back Alvin Kamara scored four touchdowns in a sublime display, but the Cowboys seemed to overlook the Saints, and the Eagles are not likely to do that.

The Eagles might have expected to be the favourites for this clash, but their defeat to the Atlanta Falcons last Monday has changed all that, which looks like an overreaction. Wide receiver AJ Brown's absence is a problem, but their ground game has continued to shine thanks to QB Jalen Hurts and running back Saquon Barkley.

While the Saints have caught the eye on offence, their defence has yet to be seriously tested and the Eagles have the weapons to do that.

Baltimore Ravens at Dallas Cowboys predictions

Sunday's matchup between the Baltimore Ravens and Dallas Cowboys has a must-win feel to it for both teams.

Baltimore are surprisingly 0-2 after defeats by the Chiefs and Raiders, but they will take some comfort from the manner of those defeats, as they were inches away from beating the Chiefs at the death in Week One, while they lost only 26-23 to the Raiders.

While the Cowboys won 33-17 against the Browns in Week 1, they were hammered 44-19 by the Saints in their home opener.

Baltimore are last in the NFL in net penalty yards with -113 and they need to work on their discipline if they are to kick on. However, that could be a quick fix for a team who reached the playoffs in 2023.

New Orleans have shown them the blueprint for how to beat the Cowboys and Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson should be able to cause havoc with his rushing skills.

The Cowboys' passing game has been a little sloppy, and if the Ravens can force them to run more, that should be enough to get the job done. Jackson has never lost three straight games as the Ravens' starting quarterback, and that trend should continue.

Kansas City Chiefs at Atlanta Falcons predictions

For the second week running, the Chiefs did enough to win at the death, but their 26-25 win over the Cincinnati Bengals came at a price.

The Chiefs offence gained only 286 total yards and they lost running back Isiah Pacheco for at least two months due to a broken leg. Despite going all the way last year, the Chiefs offence stumbled for most of the season and they have looked a little lacklustre once again. They could struggle without Pacheco, who usually grinds away and gets them over the line.

Even though they still have quarterback Patrick Mahomes fit, he has not yet been able to bring Travis Kelce into the thick of the action and the star tight end has managed just four catches through two games.

Hosts Atlanta recorded a morale-boosting 22-21 victory over Philadelphia on Monday, when Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins able to steer them home with a game-winning drive.

Cousins has already formed a solid partnership with wide receiver Drake London while running back Bijan Robinson has continued to look explosive out of the backfield.

Atlanta's fans will make this game as uncomfortable as they can for the Chiefs, and the hosts should be able to keep this within a field goal.

Tom Hill's Week Three best bets

Best money line bet

Green Bay Packers
2pts 13-10 bet365

The Packers proved they could win without quarterback Jordan Love last week as they beat the Colts 16-10.

Green Bay battered the Colts on the ground thanks to some supreme work from running back Josh Jacobs, and they will expect to do the same to the Titans.

Tennessee have been sloppy on offence for the last two weeks, and Green Bay's elite defence should make them pay. It would be a huge boost if Love is able to play but they showed enough to suggest they can win even if back-up Malik Willis has to start again.

Best handicap bet

Indianapolis Colts -1
2pts 19-20 Coral, Ladbrokes

The Colts were unable to stop the Packers' running game last week, but this week they face the Chicago Bears, who look vulnerable.

Chicago selected quarterback Caleb Williams with the first overall pick in this year's draft, but he has yet to find his feet in the league.

Chicago's run game was non-existent in their 19-13 defeat against the Texans last week, so if the Colts can unsettle Williams, they should be able to take control.

Best points bet

Under 34.5 points in Los Angeles Chargers at Pittsburgh Steelers
2pts 10-11 general

The Steelers have given up only 16 points through two games this season, their best record since 2007. At the same time, their offence has been underwhelming and they are still trying to click with a new quarterback in Justin Fields.

Like the Steelers, the Chargers have been dominant defensively, conceding just 13 points so far, and it should be a low-scoring affair when they clash.

Best prop bet

Trey McBride over 51.5 receiving yards
1pt 5-6 bet365

Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride has already racked up 97 receiving yards in the first two weeks of the season, with 67 of those coming against the Rams last week.

McBride averaged 11.2 per reception against LA and he should have another big game against the Detroit Lions.

The Lions' focus will be on trying to stop Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray from leaving the pocket, and they will also need to silence rookie wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. after his breakout game last week.

McBride has proved over the last year that he is a dependable option, and Murray should be targeting him often again.
